An atom acquires particles to fill its unoccupied orbital. When an atom lacks these essential particles, it is said to be in an “unstable” state.Motivated by this classification, I investigate our relationship with domestic spaces. We fill our rooms with our belongings to feel at home. In the series “Comfort Chambers”, I impose my own domestic interiors on abandoned spaces. However, my belongings do not function in the same way they do in my living space. I attempt to “settle” the space with these objects, and fail.
