i didn't know what this last picture was until i opened it to post on the blog. i guess i photographed myself in the mirror - that orb of light is my head...pretty much how i felt at the time.

new year's resolution: learn design (at least in the context of photographic spreads for print/digital sources.) i am an avid reader of blogs...this image was inspired by Genetic Boi, a designer named Quan Mai. i love his color cast/vintage/desaturated/ projects, so i decided to take a knack at it. i experimented and concluded that he may do one or more of the following:

1. adjustment layer > hue/saturation > decrease master saturation
2. adjustment layer > hue/saturation > increase cyan/blue
3. adjustment layer > brightness/contrast > decrease contrast
4. copy layer > set blending mode to "screen" (20% opacity)

i also did some retouching like smudging the edges, etc...but an artist can't give away all her tricks, no?

christmas eve

i came home to an eerily quiet house - everyone had gone to bed after un cafesito. i found one of my parents' wedding photos. that's my mom and dad with my tia Norma who just passed.

feliz ano nuevo! when i came home for the holidays, my mom's friend had given her a TON of clothes for me to pick through. i rummaged, thrifted, and bought some new shiii with my xmas/birthday money. here are some pieces i picked up while on vaca.

i still haven't gotten a chance to wear my mother's fur collar she gave to me. she's had it since she was a teenager. it's gorgeous, but i can't seem to find an outfit for it. suggestions?
